Review: Fake Friends - Seaside Fridge Magnets

The follow up to 2018's "Are We Cool Yet?", "Seaside Fridge Magnets" is a gloriously genre-be

nding effort. The band have effortlessly blended Pop, Indie and Dance influences with occasion nods to other genres along the way. This is particularly prevelant on the opening track "Mauve Wednesday",

where Editors-esque vocals, electro pop synth and a catchy guitar riff all live in harmony. The mix of potential influences runs throughout the whole 16 mins. "Run Away" would fit in on any Gorillaz album, theres echoes of SFA and The Mystery Jets on "Poetry Traced In Red" and even Joy Division at various points during the EP. Well worth a quarter of an hour of anyone's time.
